IDW Publishing of San Diego will adapt Sleeping Beauties, the bestselling 2017 novel by Stephen King and Owen King, as a 10-part comic book epic by the international tandem of Canadian novelist Rio Youers (The Forgotten Girl) and London-based artist and architect Alison Sampson (Winnebago Graveyard).

IDW has the series slated for a high-profile launch in early 2020.

Sleeping Beauties is a dark fantasy tale that some critics have framed as an gripping allegory for toxic masculinity and contemporary gender politics in the wake of the #metoo movement. In the story a plague called Aurora (named after Disney’s knackered princess) has left the world’s women in a deep, cocooned slumber that exiles them to their dreams. Society, meanwhile, is left entirely in the hands of men and quickly plunges into savagery.

mein Name ist Nils und ich bin 28 Jahre alt. Ich gedenke mit in der nächsten Zeit ein Tattoo zu stecken (kompletter linker Arm).
Als Motiv möchte ich gerne ein Collage aus diversen Stephen King Büchern in der möglichst viele kleine suptile Details eingearbeitet sind. Im Endeffekt soll es ein homogenes Bild aus kleinen und großen Motiven werden (z.B. dominiert durch den dunklen Turm).
Als suptile Details sind z.B. gemeint:
1. Patronenkugel mit dem Todesdatum von Kennedy
2. Gefaltetes Papierboot (M.S. Georgie) dabei soll die Schlagzeile der Zeitung auf eine andere Geschichte verweisen.
3. Schreibmaschine —> die fehlenden Tasten ergeben ein Wort.
4. Auf der Seite die in der Schreibmaschine steckt steht ein Satz aus einer andern Geschichte.
5. Grabkreuz mit Namen von tierfriedhof
6. Eine in the Mood Schallplatte

Ihr seht es gibt tausende Möglichkeiten so das ich mir an Ende wohl beide Arme tätowieren lassen muss.

Ich wollte hier einfach mal anfragen ob ihr gute Ideen für Motive und/oder suptile Details habt.

What inspired the idea for a sequel about Gwendy 25 years after she first got the button box?
RICHARD CHIZMAR: I guess from just watching the news and seeing that a lot of new, diverse people were elected to Congress, a lot of females, a lot of young people, that stuck in my head. I woke up with a really clear picture of Gwendy and saw where she was all those years after we left her.

So you saw her in office? How did you pitch the idea to King?
I wasn’t pitching Steve, I emailed him and just said, “Hey, I saw Gwendy however many years later, and she’s an elected member of Congress, living in D.C., and the button box shows up again.” That’s all I wrote him. And I just looked at the email that he sent back. He said, “That’s a cool idea, very cool.”

But he didn’t want to write it himself?
He said, “I’m going to be spending the foreseeable future with Holly Gibney [a character in his Mr. Mercedes novels and The Outsider who is a major character in his newest book], but you should write it.”

Legendary Pictures has tapped Alex Ross Perry to write and direct a new
film adaptation of the Stephen King short story “Rest Stop,” Variety is
reporting. The short story follows an author who flees the scene after
overhearing and breaking up a domestic spat at a rest stop. Initially
published in a 2003 issue of Esquire, “Rest Stop” won the National
Magazine Award for Fiction in 2004. It also appears in King’s 2008 story
collection “Just After Sunset.”


According to Variety, the film will be a cat-and-mouse thriller
following the twisted journey of two women after an encounter at a rest
stop. If that is the case, Perry’s script will evidently diverge from
the source material in some ways, including swapping the genders of the
main character and focusing on two characters instead of one.


Perry is coming off of a critical highlight of his career with “Her
Smell,” a dizzying punk rock epic starring Elisabeth Moss as an aging
rocker and her deteriorating mental state. The film was hailed by many
critics as Perry’s best film to date. The writer/director’s other titles
include “The Color Wheel,” “Listen Up Philip,” and “Queen of Earth,”
among others. He also co-wrote Disney’s “Christopher Robin.”


In a lengthy interview with IndieWire critic David Ehrlich, Perry
lamented the state of independent film and questioned the future of his
career.


“I guess I could be surprised by what happens next, but people will only
support things that seem like they’re going to pay out, and at this
point I’ve failed at that enough that I don’t know why I would ask
someone to take that chance. Where does that leave me? It leaves me
nowhere. Take your ball and go home,” he said.


While nothing in Hollywood is a sure thing, a Stephen King movie is a pretty safe bet.


King’s writing has never fallen out of favor in Hollywood for as long as
he has been active, but he has had a particularly fruitful last few
years in Hollywood. The King project “Pet Sematary,” starring Jason
Clarke, Amy Seimetz and John Lithgow, has earned $43 million since it
opened earlier this month. King’s “It: Chapter Two” is set for release
this fall, and Ewan McGregor is set to star in “Doctor Sleep” — an
adaptation of King’s sequel to “The Shining” — from Warner Bros.


Craig Flores (“300”) will produce under his Bread & Circuses banner,
with Alex Garcia and Ali Mendes set to oversee the project for
Legendary.

Es ist ein 800 Seiten starker King-Kalender. Sowas kennen wir ja schon aus der Kingwiki, aber nicht in diesem Umfang. Das Buch ist die fette Pro Edition ;-)

Nun kann ich jeden morgen beim Frühstück den jeweiligen Tag im Kingversum durchlesen und kurz an die teilweise vor langer Zeit gelesenen Bücher erinnert werden.

Es ist die aktualisierte zweite Auflage, die den Outsider sowie Elevation enthält.
