"What an utterly delightful wicked haunted house ride this re-imagining of King’s story is, so much so that I’m inclined to call this the best onscreen horror adaptation since 1990’s Misery! As far as memorable scares go, this packs a wallop, with substantial amounts of blood and carnage and enough children-in-peril scenarios to give any parent or guardian anxiety. Sticking closer to the source material is definitely one of the films reasons why it works so well, along with what’s become one of the years most anticipated performances as Pennywise, Bill Skarsgard is perfectly evil despite minimal screen time – 3.5/5"
"One of the best horror movies of the past 5 years. Much, much better than the TV version from 1990. I would have to say this is the best adaptation of a Steven King book, Bill Skarsgard is phenomenal as Pennywise, putting Tim Curry’s version to shame – 4.5/5"
"The cinematography by Chung-hoon Chung is so gorgeous. There were scenes where it would show Derry in a portrait type of style, and other scenes where Pennywise showed up or some horrible thing would happen, the camera would start to tilt a bit or not be aligned exactly with what was on screen. To up the sense of tension and fear, and see just out of the place the situation was.
....Oh yes, the gore is definitely there."
