Zitat:Amazon's Series Adaptation of Stephen King's THE DARK TOWER Will Go Into Production Soon
In case you forgot, Amazon Studios is producing a series adaptation of Stephen King’s The Dark Tower book series and they are gearing up for production!
The show is being developed by Glen Mazzara (The Walking Dead), Akiva Goldsman (Titans, Star Trek: Discovery) and Stephen King. They are in the process of assembling their cast and are looking to start shooting in mid-April in Croatia, where the series is expected to film until late-June.
According to That Hashtag Show, one of the reasons for the delay of the series is so that it will distance it from the 2017 film adaptation which didn’t get a good response from fans and critics. I'm pretty confident that Amazon will do some great things with the series. Stephen King previously explained that the series would be a complete reboot, so if you didn’t like the film, don’t worry.
The series will put the focus on “Roland Deschain, a young boy from a long line of “gunslingers”, and his “ka-tet” comprised of Cuthbert Allgood, Alain Johns, Ileen Ritter and Jamie De Curry in addition to his girlfriend, Susan Delgado. The studio is currently looking at actors and actresses, ages 16-18 for all the roles listed above.”
It’s also explained that “Marten Broadcloak will serve as the series antagonist and his affair with Roland’s mother, Gabrielle, will factor heavily into the plot. Her affair incites Roland to pick up his guns in a search for Broadcloak and sets his father, Steven, on a mission to find him. At this time, no offers have been made to talent, but the cast should begin to assemble quickly.”
When previously talking about what the series would entail, the director of the film, Nikolaj Arcel, who was helping develop the series said that the show will dive back into the books. Specifically, Wizard and Glass and The Gunslinger.
