in seiner June/Juli Ausgabe eine neue Shortstory die von Stephen King und Joe Hill ist.

Esquire will be publishing a new short story by King in the June/July issue.
It coincides with the publication of three works in the June/July issue of Esquire — by Stephen King and his son Joe Hill; the thriller writer Lee Child; and Colum McCann. The works will be available only in the print and iPad editions of the magazine.

Esquire has announced it is to publish a new story collaboration by Joe Hill and Stephen as part of its launch of an e-book series called "Fiction for Men." "In the Tall Grass" will be published in two parts, the first to appear in the June/July issue and the conclusion in the August issue. The works will be available only in the print and iPad editions of the magazine.

Tja, also ich hab das Hörbuch gestern angefangen und heute auf der Fahrt zur Arbeit beendet. Von Anfang an war ich vollkommen drin in der Story... wobei ich mich im ersten Viertel schon irgendwie sehr an "Jeepers Creepers" erinnert gefühlt habe.

Hat man zu Beginn noch den Eindruck, dass es sich um eine relativ "normale" Story handelt, wird einem ab dem Moment in dem die Protagonisten von selbst immer weiter in das Gras hineingezogen werden schnell klar, dass dem nicht so ist. Spätestens ab dem Auftauchen von Toben's Vater kann man sich dann schon langsam vorstellen in welche Richtung das Ganze läuft. Das sich die Geschichte gegen Ende hin allerdings so ins extreme entwickelt hab ich ehrlich gesagt nicht kommen sehen. hock: Die Sache mit dem Baby ist schon ziemlich heftig finde ich.

Trotz alledem hat mir die Story sehr gut gefallen. Ist halt von der etwas heftigeren Art. Aber da der Spannungsbogen/Härtegrad langsam steigt ist es in sich schon sehr stimmig.

Habe es gerade runtergeladen und auf den reader gepackt, gleich geht es los.

Tja, was soll ich sagen, eine bissige, bitterböse Geschichte, vom Schreibstil her erinnert sie mich an den früheren King, von der Story her an "Die Kinder des Mais" und "N.". Eine wirklich lesenswerte Neuerscheinung, da vergebe ich die Note "sehr gut".

Hab die Geschichte auch als E-Book gelesen und fand sie toll! Zwar erinnert sie an andere Geschichten und Filme (musste an 2001-Odyssee im Weltraum denken) und ist teilweise vorhersehbar, aber dafür konsequent durchgezogen und durchwegs spannend geschrieben. Und stellenweise wirklich grausig! Einzig den Beginn fand ich irgendwie holprig (ob das nun von Vater oder Sohn war?). Aber insgesamt sehr unterhaltsam!

Also: Die Story hab ich letzen Sommer innerhalb von 2 Tagen durchgehabt und manches ist auch hängengeblieben :hammer .
Diese KG gehört ganz klar zu meinen Lieblingen. Warum gibts eigentlich nie Polls bei solchen Themen? Ich stimm für SEHR GUT!
